Habanero Wagyu-Angus Burgers
You cannot go through a hot summer without making a burger of some kind. Burgers + a cold drink & a patio is the way to go. These burgers are juicy, a tad hot and damn delicious!
Ingredients
(Makes 2-3 burgers)
- 300 grams Wagyu-Angus ground beef (or any type of ground beef you like)
- 1/2 small onion chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 small habanero pepper
- 1 tbsp chives
- 1 tbsp steak spices*
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 small zucchini sliced
- 2-3 toasted burger buns
Method
- Finely chop onion, garlic, chives and habanero pepper** - set aside;
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, steak spices, egg, salt, pepper and bread crumbs;
- Add chopped onion, garlic and chives to the mixture (don't over mix) and shape it into patties;
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and gently place the burgers into the pan (you can also use a bbq, but I was too lazy, oops!);
- Cook the patties for 8-10 minutes on each side, flipping a few times and be careful not to press them too much;
- Once the beef patties are cooked, set aside and fry the zucchini slices in the same skillet;
- Assemble the burgers with your favourite toppings! (I dressed mine with ketchup, mayo, lettuce and fried zucchini slices.)
* You can substitute Steak spices with Cajun spices.
**Careful chopping the habanero, that pepper is no joke, make sure you remove all the seeds with a knife, I'd even suggest wearing rubber gloves.
I hope you enjoy this recipe, and if you have the chance to try wagyuXangus beef, please do, you'll thank me later!
