Best album of the summer : 2018
This summer was filled with many Hip Hop/Rap album releases. From Kanye releasing five albums through G.O.O.D Music to Drake's Scorpion.
My two favorites were Scorpion and Astroworld. So who got the best summer release between Drake and Travis Scott? Let's evaluate:
Scorpion - Drake (release date June 10, 2018):
Per usual this is a well produced album. The beats Drake uses are always on point. In this album he opened up and confirmed a few things everyone wondered - including his child. In Emotionless he admits to having a kid "I wasn't hidin' my kid from the world I was hidin' the world from my kid" and goes on talking about his relationship with the mother of his child in March 14 "She not my lover like "Billie Jean", but the kid is mine Sandi used to tell me all it takes is one time, And all it took was one time, Shit, we only met two times, two times, And both times were nothin' like the new times". We can't forget about God's Plan and Nice For What which both started off the summer nicely. But the winning song from this album, is without a doubt In My Feelings, the song created a whole movement and the #ShiggyChallenge - even I was trying to get in on that (I may have filmed one, lucky ones got a copy).
Cons of the album: Love Drake, but in my opinion, it had too many songs, I only liked about 8 out of the 25 songs and a lot of them had the same type of tempo and slow chill vibe.
Overall album score: 7/10

Astroworld - Travis Scott (release date August 3, 2018):
First I must say, Travis has been an underrated rapper. Can I say Rihanna and Kylie Jenner put him on the map? Kinda, Sorta. Nonetheless, he's extremely talented and I've always admired his craft. A true artist, you can kind of see it from the way he poses in pictures, almost always hiding his face and of course, in his music. The much anticipated album features Drake, Swae Lee, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Juice WRLD, amongst others. In Astroworld, he opens up about his relationship with his "baby mama" in SICKO saying "Baby mama cover Forbes, got these other bitches shook", Kylie Jenner did in fact cover Forbes Magazine earlier this summer. None of the beats on this album really sound the same, although I've noticed similarities between BUTTERFLY EFFECT and ASTROTHUNDER. My favorite songs from this album are YOSEMITE, CAN'T SAY, SICKO MODE (it switches up on you at the one minute mark, yussssss T!).
Cons: Can't stop listening to it. Whoops
Overall album score: 9/10
